EXPLORER

When you click on MY COMPUTER on the desktop you are opening a program called EXPLORER. This program will open in a WEB PAGE format. Let’s take a look at it.

The graphic above is in Web Page format. The graphic below shows what I have checked to make my EXPLORER PROGRAM look like a web page. If you have never changed any of the settings then your EXPLORER PROGRAM will probably look like this.

Under the popup menu toolbars I have a check mark besides STANDARD BUTTONS and TEXT LABELS. Nothing is checked under EXPLORER BAR. I have check marks in front of STATUS BAR and AS WEB PAGE. The computer will display the information as LARGE ICONS.

On the left I have moved into my C – DRIVE. Everything remains the same.

The graphic below shows C-DRIVE in a different format. I want to see it in DETAIL. This becomes very hand in this view as I can tell what dates I made the folder or created the file. Also notice that I have created FILE FOLDERS with names of 123, 1234, AB, ABC, and ABCD. Numbers will show first. I use those folders to store files in so they may be worked on later.

At the very bottom of the drop down menu under the word view is FOLDER OPTIONS. Here I am going to setup the way I want to have my folders displayed on the screen. Web style is not marked because I like to double click. I often want to move something into a folder. So I have placed a dot in Custom setting you choose. A double click on SETTING produced the CUSTOM, SETTINGS program.

The most important areaS for me is to have the EXPLORER PROGRAM be displayed as a WEB PAGE. Open each FOLDER IN THE SAME WINDOW and use a DOUBLE CLICK TO OPEN FOLDER AND FILES.

Now that you have seen how EXPLORER can be setup, here are
some additional thinks that can be done inside of the program.
Adding file folders.

A click on the word FILE another on NEW and on FOLDER produced the new folder at the bottom right of the graphic below which I have name EXPPIC short for explorer pictures

A tap on the enter key and I have registered in the computer the name of the new folder.

The graphic on the left shows that I have a file called 04Exp that I want to move into the new folder. I have placed the mouse point on it and holding the right mouse button I have moved the mouse pointer to the top of the new folder. I now release the right mouse button and the folder has changed color from light to dark and a menu has popped up. I have the choice of moving or copying the file to the new location. A click on the command move or copy will do it. I use the right mouse to drag and drop as I have a choice. If I used the left mouse button I have no choice. And it may move or it may only make a copy.
