BACKING UP ADDRESS BOOK

As you use your OUTLOOK EXPRESS E-MAIL you're going to be adding address of all kinds to it. I use my address book for all my address, business, personal and E-mail. Therefore it is very important that I do not lose the information. I BACKUP MY ADDRESS BOOK at the end of every month and sometimes in-between.

Notices on the graphic above I have an address of 1-31-4 with an e-mail address of 1-1-01@trouble. The 1-31-4 tells me the date that I last backed up my ADDRESS BOOK and the 1-1-01 is just a fake address so it would show up. 1Family is a group listing of all my family that have E-mail address. The same applies to 1Friends. The numbers one in front of family and friends will place those groups at the top of the list.

A click on FILE and another on EXPORT a third time on ADDRESS BOOK (WAB) will produce the menu to export it to.

When you try to save something in Microsoft Windows Program the default is to save it in MY DOCUMENTS. However this is on the C Drive of the computer. Not a good idea To save it there. If the computer should crash and you have to reformat the C- Drive everything is lost. I am going to save it on 1.44 disk or on my second drive (D) or into my documents folder and then copy to a CD.

At the end of the words my document is a down arrow point a click on that will allow me to go to my Floppy A- Drive. A click on the A-Drive opens the drive and I have inserted the floppy. As shown in the graphic below.

I am ready to same the file 1-31-4 to the floppy, but before I do I have highlighted on of the older files and a tap on the deleted key will remove that file from the floppy disk. Be sure the file name has not changed before you click on SAVE.

Even though I got the news that the ADDRESS BOOK name 1-31-4 has been successfully saved I am going to go to my computer and be sure that it is there. There is just too much information in that file I can't lose. The graphic below eases my mind when it shows up on the 1.44 floppy.

Import the Address Book

I had backed up my address book earlier and now it is time to restore it to the original location. But first I want to delete an address to be sure that I in fact did get it restored.

A click on YES and I have deleted the file. Now a click on the word file at the top of my address book, another on IMPORT and a third click on address book and I am on my way.

The graphic on the left shows that the import wizard has started to look for the backup I had saved earlier. The program is defaulted to my documents folder so I had to click on the down arrow point at the end of the LOOK IN line and then click on 3 ½ floppy A. Now a quick click on the file 12-12=5 to register to the wizard what I want to restore this file. A final click on open and you can see below that I am in fact restoring my address.

As you can see by the graphic below that I have indeed restored the file to my address book.
