Another way to backup your important files are go copy them to a 1.44 floppy in the (A drive) or place them in a second hard drive if you have it. However if your main drive crashes they need to be storied some place other than on the main drive.
To start Microsoft’s backup program I have clicked on MY COMPUTER with the left mouse button and then a click on my DRIVE C with the right mouse to produce the popup menu as shown in the graphic below.
In the graphic above a click with the left mouse button on backup produced the graphic below.
I will select just one file for this backup. It is not necessary to back up the whole drive. However there will be some programs that you may want to backup.
Graphic on the right shows that I have checked a box in front of MY BACKUP.DOC. That is the file that I want to backup. Notice that there are faint check marks in the boxes all the way to C Drive.
The backup wizard asks what to back and in the graphic below after clicking on next Has opened to D-drive and show the last file name that I backed up.
On the left I have decided to backup to a 1.44 floppy disk in Drive A
I have name the file 1-5-02 Backup Text.
Notice below that I have both boxes checked. I want to compare and compress the file.
Click on the word start on the left, started the backup as shown in the graphic below.
I now have that file backed up on a 1.44 floppy. Let us pretend that I lost the file and need to restore.
