INDIAN POSTAL STATIONERY ERRORS

Gandhi postal cards. The left card has a fake "SPECIMEN" in red below the stamp image. These Gandhi cards with the fake "SPECIMEN" on them began surfacing in 1999 at stamp shows and on the Internet auction -eBay. The card on the right has a partial stamp image.

The Envelope on the left is missing the "50" under the pale blue spoked wheel. Additionally, the pale blue color should be a darker blue like the normal one on the right.

The item on the left is printer's waste. It is the 15 value postal card image with two hands with a tree between them and two animals at the bottom of the tree. The postal card was issued in brown ink on cream colored stock. The card on the right appears miscut. I do not know the layout of the sheet as this, as it appears, does not seem possible. There would have to be the blank spot to the left of the right side. This sheet could have been fed through the press twice to get the image on the left.

The 35p inland lettersheet on the left has the image and text misplaced to the left. The entire imprint is there but most of it is on the flap that is folded behind the visible portion. The 75p inland letter has a partial double and triple imprint of the stamp image only and a large smear across the top. The third faint imprint is to the far right, almost to the edge of the lettersheet.

Spectacular error with normal orange stamp image and four albino images superimposed on top of each other but moving down and to the left. The image continues on the back of the envelope. Right envelope has two images.

Doubly printed 50p envelopes. The one has the rubber stamped ""5 Paise Stationery Charge"" and the other does not. While such doubly printed errors are spectacular to view, they are fairly common. When adding such items to a collection one needs to find the most interesting.

Two different dies of the 25p embossed envelope. The envelope on the left has the image on the reverse. There is no image on the front. This is the die with the "p" under the "25". The envelope on the right does not have any letter under the "25".

Image is printed on angle on gummed side of sheet - this is not an offset. The front is blank.
