DUBAI
PLEASE NOTE: More current information has been added to this page on July 1, 2002.
- Dubai issued two sets of Scout Postal Cards. Again, due to the popularity of the Scout topic the issues were heavily "played with" and many errors were created. In thirty years of collecting I have never seen a genuine postally used Dubai postal card. The issue, along with several of the aerogramme sets, had a variety of "SPECIMEN" handstamps, in Arabic and English, applied to them. These handstamps exist in every combination possible (with the exception of being placed vertically on the cards). They are found with a single handstamp, double, one inverted, both inverted, one normal with the other inverted and with the Arabic removed.
They should not be considered genuine "SPECIMEN" cards as more were created as needed by the agents. They were made exclusively to sell to collectors and no record of the number created were ever recorded. The number simply relied on the demand.
