Fakes and Forgeries
Stamps
Covers
- The Scout impression on these covers was created by an Indian dealer and mailed in Bangladesh. They were not made for cancelling the stamps and were not sanctioned by the Scouts. Note that the covers were sent to a well known stamps dealer (Sam Malamud) and to a newspaper. Both were most likely sent in hopes of getting publicity for the item. Both are dated February 6, 1973. The cover on the left was sent by Mr.M.Abdul Wahab, Regional Scout Organizer, Kapoiaksha Scout Mala, Jessore, Bangladesh. They both have cancellations of Temporary Post Office KLN-133.
- Backs and fronts of the same covers. The images below the first are the reverse of the cover directly above it. These are fake Moukti Fouz covers. These were prepared by a dealer in India and sold as genuine covers stemming from the war with Pakistan. These were purchased in 1974.
- The type of cover we would all like to own. Unfortunately, it is totally faked and was made in India. This was purchased from a reputable stamp auction house in the United States in the late 1970's. Only later did I find out it was not genuine.
