Land Hoe
Okay bad joke, but the work that Chuck Tanton and Jim Pugh did in clearing the land for an expansion of the parking lot is no joke.

Thank You So Much for Your Prayers and Your Contributions
On July 7,2002 the congregation reviewed the architects plans for a new SANCTUARY to be added to our new building. The Sanctuary building alone will cost an estimated $3.5 million. We have received $500,000 in contributions from friends around the world to help in our reconstruction.
Amounts as small as $1 dollar when consolidated with other global friends would help us meet our goal. We appreciate the wonderful response from people we have never met personally but share in our grief.
Your Prayers and Contributions to our Reconstruction Fund is greatly appreciated. Checks may be made payable to First Presbyterian Church Reconstruction Fund and mailed to 2400 W. Northmoor Road. Peoria, Illinois 61614.

- A TAIZE PRAYER SERVICE is offered at 7:00 p.m. on the 4th Thursday of each month.
You are invited to experience the spirituality and the meditative songs of the Taize' community of France, an interdenominational and ecumenical monastic order founded in 1940, which is known around the world for its message of trust, peace and reconciliation.
The Taize' service is one of song and meditation, and the idea of it is to practice heartfelt devotion to God. There is silent meditation, scripture and prayer. Mostly there is song. A songleader will lead the songs and conduct a practice at the beginning of the prayers service. These simple songs are sung for several minutes each so that the words can become memorized and be sung from the heart. The sanctuary is candlelit, there is silence and meditation, and there is opportunity for you to speak your prayer concerns. There is an occasional candlelighting service or anointing service. Here is a picture of the Altar "Like a Candle on the Altar". Click here to read the Journal Star September 14,2002 report about this service.
